However you choose to approach this day, please keep one thing in mind: avoid association with evil. “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness.” (Eph. 5:11).
Whether you dress your kids in cute costumes to take them in search of candy, or let them pretend to be Bible characters or well-known historical Christians, whether you yourself run around today in crazy attire or whether you do not participate in this day at all, is up to you and your heart before God.
But don’t toy with, don’t even dance near the flame of current, popular, dark concepts like evil clowns, zombies, witches (even “cute” ones or “good” ones), skeletons or vampires. It can be just as much fun to be a ballerina or a fire fighter, a puppy or a bunch of grapes, a smart phone or a Q-Tip. Be creative and stay in the light!
