Amazing Grace

If you saw the 2006 film “Amazing Grace,” or you enjoy reading history, you know about the courageous British parliamentarian, William Wilberforce, who spoke out against his country’s slave trade until that practice was officially abolished on this date in 1807. A good start.

We know that a law does not end all sin. Blacks were (and still are) treated poorly in England and in “the new world” long after they were officially declared “free.” Changing those laws was the right thing to do, but bad behaviors remained. No law sets any of us free from our slavery to sin. Only God can do that. And he does when you trust him in faith for forgiveness of your sins.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36) That is amazing grace!!!
