Minnie Mouse showed up recently in a village not far from Duhok, Kurdistan. Kurdish kids love her and flocked to see her. She came bearing gifts for the kids, and her “human” traveling companions brought a craft project for the moms.
Entrust’s Layth Ibrahim organized the visit as a way to build a bridge between Entrust ministries and families in Kurdish villages. Several locals thanked Layth and his wife, Ilham, for bringing joy to their community.
Layth and Ilham will continue building relationships here. And next time they go to this village, Layth says, “we’ll bring face paint.”
Don’t feel like smiling today? That’s OK. But here’s something Jesus said:
“Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.” (John 16:22)
Rest assured. Joy is on the way back.
“Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:10-14)
