Psalm 90

2016 07 22 - hymnO God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home!

Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

O God our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guide while life shall last,
And our eternal home.

– From Psalm 90, by Isaac Watts

Psalm 90

93 days, 15 hours and 47 minutes

That’s how much summertime we’ll get this year in the Northern Hemisphere. Since it hasn’t officially started yet, we have a little time to think about how to use those 93+ days.

What if we all determined to soak this summer? Soak in the sun (duly sunscreened, of course), soak the lawn, soak in some baseball and barbecue, soak in some family time at a picnic or wedding or family reunion. How about being intentional to soak in God’s word? Like, plan to get up a little earlier on those bird-songy mornings to read a chapter from the Bible? Plan to choose some inviting spots outdoors to spend alone time with God? Plan to read through the whole New Testament, maybe, or the Psalms.

Monday, June 20, at precisely 4:34 p.m. (Mountain Time), summer officially begins. Prepare to soak.
